Dr. Anna Martel, DVM, Dipl. ACZM

Board Certified in Zoological Companion Animal Medicine and Surgery

Dr. Anna Martel is a relief vet exclusively for exotic species who travels to our clinic on a regular basis to service our clients. Dr. Martel grew up traveling between Miami and Trinidad (an island in the Caribbean). Her love of birds started early, with her grandmother’s blue and gold macaw and orange-wing Amazon parrot. After 11 years as a practicing physical therapist, she returned to her dream to become an avian and exotic veterinarian.

Dr. Martel attended veterinary school at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and graduated in 2015. Post-graduation, she completed an avian and exotics internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston, Texas. In 2016, she returned to UW for a residency in Zoological Companion Animal Medicine. Dr. Martel is a board certified specialist through the American College of Zoological Medicine.

She shares her home with two children, two dogs, four cats, a hedgehog, fish, and multiple parrots including 3 Amazon parrots, 2 cockatoos, an African grey parrot and a cockatiel.
